Youth Alpine Racing Development
Objective: To enhance skiing ability and develop alpine racing skills for 7-14 year-old members ofPVSC.
Greetings skiing and ski race fans! The PVSC Alpine Racing Development Program is gearing up for another exciting season!
The Racing Development Program gives young (ages 7-14) skiers an opportunity to both improve their skiing technique and develop racing skills. Prospective participants should be independent in gearing up, riding lifts, and should have skills commensurate with graduates of the Learn to Ski Program. No racing experience is necessary, but skiers should be developing parallel skiing skills and be skiing independently on intermediate terrain.
The Racing Development Program will practice each Saturday morning from 8:30-12:30 at Hermon Mountain from January through February. Additionally racers will be encouraged to participate in 4-5 optional junior races on Sundays through the season, as well as the popular Family Fun Race in early March with siblings, parents, volunteers, and coaches at Hermon Mountain.
The Racing Development Program does not hold tryouts. In the interest of skier safety the coaching staff may refer some skiers to the Advanced Learn to Ski Program if that program is better suited to that individual’s skills.
Those who are interested in learning more about the program should e-mail program coordinator Kristy McClure (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to continued growth of the racing development program during past seasons and hope to see many new and familiar faces on the mountain. Think snow!!
