New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) – Advocacy group that works to support all levels of cross country skiing in the northeast (comprehensive events calendar as well)

Ski Museum of Maine – Museum dedicated to preserving heritage and artifacts from Maine’s rich history of skiing (facilities located in Kingfield)

New England Lost Ski Areas Project – Non-profit that chronicles all of the many closed ski areas throughout the northeast.  Several former ski hills near Bangor are discussed.

Orono Land Trust – Orono-based organization that works to conserve open space and trails (including many portions of Caribou Bog Trail)
