Orono Schools

Groomed 3/21. Happy spring! All trails in good condition, but will likely go fast. No tracks set.

A big effort has been made in the last two years to widen and reconstruct the trails behind the Orono schools to make them better for skiing.  In 2011 alone, over 700 hours of volunteer time was donated by more than 80 local skiers and their families.

During the fall of 2012, PVSC, the Orono High School XC running and Nordic skiing teams and the Orono Land Trust are working to complete another section of trail.  If you are interested in helping with these efforts, email PVSC Nordic committee co-chair Dan Perkins at daniel.perkins@maine.edu for details.

These trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing.  An important note is that the trails are designed to be skied in one direction to avoid collisions on the hills.  Please enter the trails on the north side of the football stadium and exit on the south side.

A trail map will be added to the site this fall.
