PVSC 2008 Nordic Events:

Youth Nordic Skiers:

A new youth program is in place for this winter!! Please click here to see the program details and to register. Season equipment rental is available for $40, click here.

 

Adult Nordic Skiers:

The youth program will be practicing at the following dates and places. Adult PVSC members are very welcome to attend these practices. I will be available for techinque advice and to help with any Nordic ski needs.

Ø Tentative dates: January 19th à 9:30 AM-11:30 AM &February 16th à 1:00-2:30 PM at University trails in Orono or Bangor City Forest (TBA).
Ø Tentative date: February 3ndà Noon-2pm, practice at Fierce Chase XC area.

Youth Cross-Country Ski Clinic

2008 Youth Cross Country Ski Program

Monday, January 7th , 5:30-7pm @ Victoria Grant Civic Center

Snow is here and its time to ski! The PVSC in conjunction with the Winterport Recreation Department would like to invite our youth ages 8-14 to learn to cross country ski. (Skiers younger than 8 years old are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian.) From beginners to experienced skiers, we have a fun new program. Through skill instruction and exciting ski games, this program is tailored to meet the needs of various ski levels. This is not a racing ski program at this time, but there are many racing opportunities if desired.

Registration sign up will be January 7th from 5:30-7pm at the Victoria Grant Civic Center. Please fill out the registration form and the waiver and bring in at this time. If you can not attend the registration night, please send form to: Emily Cartwright, 12 Marine St., Winterport, ME 04496. Please call Emily at 223-4791 with any questions.

**Equipment is available for season rental for $40. If you wish to use this equipment rental program, you must be registered and paid before or on January 7th

Schedule:

· Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:45 PM  at Abbott Park in Winterport

· Begins Thursday, January 10th & ends Thursday,  March 6th (no practices the week of Feb school break)

· 3 weekend practice opportunities:

Cost:

· Membership in Penobscot Valley Ski Club: $20 individual/ $25 family

· $40 seasonal equipment lease if you do not already have equipment (Equipment to be leased through the Maine Winter Sports Center) $45 with ski bag

· Possible travel expenses for optional weekend events

*If a minimum of 8 participants is not met or do not have sufficient volunteers, a refund will be given* (Need 1 adult volunteer per 8 skiers)

Practice cancellations occur due to snow conditions and weather-- cancellations will be left at 223-4791.

We need volunteers!! You do not need to ski or even wear skis at practices to help. Also looking for someone to help groom the ski trails. Please contact Emily at emilyski@yahoo.com or 223-4791.
